Algeria ranked among the top ten global destinations for Chinese car exports, after receiving 143,012 Chinese vehicles during the first half of 2026.
Exports of Chinese cars to Algeria saw an increase of more than 40,000 vehicles compared to last year, when it received 100,382 vehicles.
According to Cui Dongshu, Secretary General of the China Passenger Car Association, Chinese car exports reached 5.31 million units during the first six months of 2026, an increase of 53 percent compared to the same period last year.
Russia ranked as the largest destination for Chinese car exports during the first half of the year, after receiving 448,157 cars, including 84,451 cars in June alone, thus leading global markets.
Brazil came in second place with 410,825 vehicles, followed by the United Kingdom with 255,260, Australia with 237,823, Belgium with 219,730, Mexico with 210,155, Italy with 154,870, the Philippines with 148,727, and the United Arab Emirates with 146,274 vehicles.
New energy vehicle exports maintained a rapid growth pace, as China's exports of these vehicles reached 529,000 in June, an increase of 108 percent year-on-year, while total exports during the period from January to June reached 2.42 million vehicles, an increase of 70 percent.
During the first half of the year, the most prominent export markets for Chinese new energy vehicles included Brazil, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Thailand.
Exports of these cars to Brazil reached 299,803, surpassing Belgium to become the largest cumulative market for Chinese new energy vehicle exports.
In terms of powertrain type, plug-in hybrid vehicles have become one of the main drivers of export growth.
China's exports of plug-in hybrid vehicles reached 900,000 units during the period from January to June, an increase of 115 percent, while June exports reached 210,000 vehicles, an increase of 192 percent.
